The funding needs for inpatient treatment for Eating Disorder (ED) patients is not diminishing. Recent statistics show that 7 Million women and 1 million men suffer from eating disorders (Anna Westin Foundation; 2003). Because many hospitals charge $1,000-$2000 per day, not including physician’s fees, we decided to be pro-active and raise money for direct payment to such hospitals, on behalf of these individuals. In our clinical practice, we know of individuals who have up to $500,000+ in medical bills, and have taken 2 nd and 3 rd mortgages on their homes to fund their daughter’s treatment.
Currently, MSF is being bombarded with inquiries about scholarships from individuals in need of funding. In recent months, our call volume has increased to a rate of 2-4 new inquiries weekly. MSF currently has 8 applicants on file, but currently holds funding to award two scholarships this year. It is crucial that we receive more funding this year to help as many individuals as is possible.
MSF is in also need of the following:
- Donated gemstones, jewelry components, and completed jewelry items to sell
- Gift baskets, including items such as: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, lotion, Bible, journal, inspirational reading/CDs
- Volunteers with the following experience/skills:
- Fundraising
- Accounting
- Legal
- Marketing
All donations to MSF are tax deductible. We now have the ability to donate online by credit card. You can click the Donate Button to the right to get started. If you wish to donate by check, please make checks payable to Manna Scholarship Fund, and mail them to:
